NJ1K Peakbagging App

I embarked on this project out of personal interest during the early days of the COVID pandemic. NJ1K is a peakbagging group whose members have the goal to climb or "bag" every peak over 1000 feet in the state of New Jersey, and the organization has a website where group members can log their peaks. I set out to design an app that would allow members to log their trips while hiking rather than while sitting at their computers. I also took the opportunity to rebrand the group to give it a more coherent look.

App Design, Branding

One

Branding

Before designing an app, I first developed new branding for the organization. Starting from scratch, I chose to work in shades of green; I used All Round Gothic for its minimalist, playful look, complimented by Brandon Grotesque for all other typography. I built the logo to match the style of All Round Gothic, and then designed the iconography in the same style.

Components

Using the branding I built, I designed a series of resuable components that would give the app a unified look and feel.
