PowerLabs Rebranding

PowerLabs, originally PowerHouse, changed their name to better reflect the work they want to do. With their new name, they needed a new brand identity, so they brought me on. PowerLabs is an energy and technology company, but one that strives to meet both individual and enterprise customers. The new identity was built around the idea of contrast: nature and technology sharp lines and soft colors, old world and new energy.

Type and Color

To fit PowerLabs’ mission as a clean energy company, I chose a color palette that was bright and energetic, but pulled inspiration from the natural world. These colors are pared with two typefaces, PP Neue Corp in the weight Tight Ultrabold, and Fraunces, used in Semibold Italic and Regular.

Logo

The logo is based around a spark, to signify energy, power, and new beginnings. The spark is held in a duotone square that fits the full caps word mark. Paired together, logo and word mark feel solid and timeless. The logo is primarily set in the primary colors, but can be set in alternate colors for different use cases.

Website

The new visual identity came together in a completely overhauled website. Built around a solid grid system to match thew new logo, the new site combines sharp lines and soft New England imagery to further emphasize the contrast at the core of the new brand.
