Wien Branding

For this semester long class project, I was tasked with the branding and graphic design of a UNESCO World Heritage site of my choosing. I chose Vienna’s historic city center, and I built a brand that felt both modern and historic, with an updated version of the city’s crest, a beautiful serif typeface, and unique photo treatments.

One

Logo & Colors

As the central point of Vienna’s branding, I updated the city’s crest to use as the logo. I paired this logo with the typeface Writer from Pangram Pangram, in regular and bold. I chose a simple color palette, using almost exclusively red, black, white, and gray.

Branded Documents

Using the brand assets, I designed a letterhead, business cards, an envelope, and a one page info sheet about the site.

New Yorker Ads

I created two sets of three ads for the New Yorker magazine, advertising an exhibit of art and artifacts at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts. I highlighted a different museum with each ad in the collection.

Additional Assets

I also designed a website home page, a small transport van for the site, and a booklet that provided information on UNESCO World Heritage Sites in general, with accompanying dual-purpose pamphlet and poster providing a more detailed overview of the site.
